The CytoActive® Story: From Family Remedy to Dermatologist-Approved

Great-Grandma Henrietta Thompson

The creator of our original formula would be so proud if she could see us today.

Great-Grandma Henrietta Thompson (born in the late 1800’s), pictured first, is responsible for the original remedy that we now know and love as CytoActive®. She and her French immigrant family used a glycerin-based serum to soothes bumps, bruises, and skin conditions for kids and elderly alike in New Orleans around the turn of the twentieth century.

After serving in WWII, Henrietta' descendent Dr. Nelson Holmquist studied cytopathology and went on to teach at LSU Medical School where he met and married cyto-tech Marion in the mid-1970’s.

Dr. Nelson Holmquist

The two lived together with Marion’s three children in New Orleans until retiring to a farm in Folsom, LA. Farm life provided many opportunities to test the family remedy, and the results eventually convinced the Princeton-trained physician to pursue the clinical findings.

That was the first step in getting the former family remedy into doctors' offices nationwide. Want your practice to be one of them? Email barbaradcranner@drholmquist.com for more information.
